There is another issue that we will need to grapple with. Our wages grew at roughly the rate of inflation (BS as Govt interference) for many years (productivity offsets anyone) and then became stagnant. After tax, people actually fell behind re their disposable income. But the inflation in food and essential services outstripped the inflation rate - putting Mums and Dads and Kids further behind. So they had to economise to survive. In many households people are going without eg 2 meals a day. All this will come back to bite us - cannot see wage rises anytime soon!
