I've had Covid before the vaccines in early 2020 and it's not an experience I'd care to repeat. I kept the viral load down by gargling with salt water and with a nasal saline flush as soon as I detected the classic tickle in the throat and nose. This is probably what saved me along with some other measures. Forget testing at the time there was no reliable antigen test and tests were few and far between. If you hadn't come off an overseas plane you didn't qualify.
Now by the time the vaccines came around, any immune function that I had from previous infection had long gone. The window could be much shorter in some people and with some strains.
This reality the natural immunity crowd keep forgetting. With some diseases you get a lifelong immunity, from either natural infection or with vaccine. With others less so. Coronavirus is less so.
With coronavirus, it is apparently like the flu in terms of variations.
And immunity from one strain will NOT protect you from the next which is how you can get the flu twice in one season. Different strain.
If you aren't old, and don't have health issues, you will likely just have light (or no) symptoms and you will develop resistance to the virus that is superior to a vaccine.
See above, the length the natural immunity applies is very short and it won't apply to all strains.
Further, the interaction between the virus and some people's DNA is a wildcard. Otherwise young and healthy people can get hit hard by the virus. some even die.
This is also backed up by some epidemiologists and the reason that The Barrington Declaration was created.
Hey! An epidemiologist is NOT a virologist! They are far from expert in how the virus interacts at the cellular level or how long an immunity will last.
So you might find a few outliers? That's like saying I've found a geologist who doesn't believe in human induced climate change. good but it proves very little.
The problem is that even a natural immune response won't protect you for long and even then the amount of protection tapers off with time.
Because people WANT to believe that there's an easy solution, and want to believe we're all being duped, they will promote ideas that are dangerous.
Yes some people will develop a natural immunity that will work for a time, but it's playing roulette. Many otherwise healthy and young people have died.
We have a very long way to go with this pandemic.
