To be fair, Scott, it doesn't really matter what you think they could or couldn't bring. The only thing you personally know that the woman could have brought is a move towards a gender quota, which is what you are essentially championing on this thread in the absence of any knowledge of the two candidates compared side by side. And it wasn't even close, the fellow pulled 82% of the vote.
The Coalition have always been poor on women participation, but they still have won a lot more elections this century than Labor. And it's not just Coalition rusted-ons that don't give a shit about gender quotas or balanced participation, the swing vote tends not to really care either.
That might be changing, it remains to be seen, but while it's pretty easy to knock a recurrent outcome of the other side, you certainly don't have recent results to back you up that it's not democratically popular.
