    "a move towards a gender quota, which is what you are essentially championing on this thread". ...... your perception is all yours treefer.... I've never posted an opinion on quotas. the Libs have been well aware of their deficiency/neglect of women and equal representation for many years.

    as we know the Labs used a quota and achieved equal representation ahead of their target year. the Greens have always attracted women and now have an more than 50% female MPs. yet the Labs have refused to enable women to enter politics using the claim they select candidates exclusively on merit. only 25% female representation in the Libs. hell even th4e Nats do a better job with women.

    so why do you think they don't select more female candidates? most they do select are in contentious seats while men get the safe seats.

    in effect the Libs are making safe seats difficult to hold as the teal wave showed.

    and lets not forget the Big Swinging Dicks club in the Liberal Party - how very illiberal of them.

    ps. the Libs would not have won a single election under Abbott, Trunbill or Morrison, without the Nats in the permanent "coalition"
