The most polite description of the regulation of the environmentals of mining is it is a 'work in progress'.
The conduct of relationships with 'first nations peoples' (God help us all!) can only be described as bizairre.
For background, I am a former Senator's staffer who knows exactly the strutting vanity and desperate lunges at publicity you speak of. Democracy is clunky and remains 'the least worst system ever tried'.
I continue to contest the meme that the Chinese look 200 years ahead while we think only of the next ninety days.
