I suppose there are two thoughts here zzedzz. That the incumbent Gas Generators game the system for maximum profit and that Renewables keep a lid on their extravagances or alternatively that the Gas Generator's are really benign Corporate Citizens who only follow the NEM bid stack that the outrageous renewables bid.
