Silly idea, mate! We should certainly have our own "standards" in everything. Tailor-made to suit our own country and character -both of which are unique in almsost every way! Unfortunately, we are already imitating (on almost everything we do) the US, UK and other countries. In many instances where there's little difference between our aims and needs and theirs, that's OK but we ought to have our own nous, imagination and self-confidence to write our own laws about everything that has to do with us. I'd hate to see a label that proclaimed, "built according to US standards." As to what politicians ought to and ought not to do, we all have our own views on that -and we vote accordingly. It's called "Democracy," though it has certainly been continuously and consistently corrupted with every passing year when one sees the politicisation of almost every wing of the Administration, including the Police and the Judiciary!
