First generation vaccines would likely be less effective against viruses that have mutated far from the original form.
IMO most Australians will become infected at some point in the next 12 months. You either choose to be vaccinated prior to infection, or not.
As I said, I'm happy to go down the path of vaccinated > anti-bodies > breakthrough infection with vastly reduced change of hospitalisation & death > more anti-bodies to the point of same, or better protection than a "natural" infection.
IMO once it became clear that current vaccines did not stop Delta transmission, any chance of putting this back in the bottle was lost. Delta put an end to re-bottling the genie. Delta came about from uncontrolled transmission in India prior to any vaccination development.
The question now is, what position do you want to be in when you contract your initial infection. Look at the data and make your decision. To me, the data is pointing to an obvious conclusion.
