That doesn't make sense. If it was easy to predict interest rates then the "smarter people" would invest in highly rate sensitive assets and trade/time and abritrage the market. What you are suggesting of buying strong companies and riding through the noise would be more of a strategy for someone who doesn't have a strong view on rates but is still confident in the long term strength of the economy and corporate earnings, particularly those of high quality large companies
