A chart is just that - data. Analysis of charts can add subjectivity, depending on the type of analysis - of which I confess I am certainly no expert.
There are ways to selectively chart that can bias presentation. For example, the time period and trading ranges represented. But as TTT well points out, charting is one tool, usually for gauging when to jump in (or out.) Whereas earnings (and charting longer term) and fundamentals are more about choosing whether to jump in at all.
Unless one's about day trading or flipping, then I imagine charts are the bees knees.
