Today Xstrata announced suspension of it $600 million dollar expansion of Ernest Henry Mine near Cloncurry in North Queensland.

Some may say "Big Deal"

I agree. It is a Big Deal.

A Big Deal for all at Ernest Henry Mine as the expansion was the only thing stopping the Mine Closure as the current ore body is exhausted.

A Big Deal for the township of Cloncurry who now face unemployment and business foreclosure...yes supermarkets...pubs....and general merchandise business..

A Big Deal for the Services Companies in Mt Isa and Townsville who relied on this project to get them through till the better times.....

A Big Deal for the predictable drop in real estate values of neighbouring Communities...

A Big Deal for all Australians who do not yet realise what this Government has thrust into the heart of ALL AUSTRALIANS

Tooo damn late.....the damage has been done.

Nothing but reported misery to follow....
