The number one benefit of a democratic society is the freedom of choice.

That is bullsh*t

The number one benefit is that we govern ourselves collectively. In fact that is the essence of it.

Freedom of choice may be more available in a democratic society, but there is no enabling right to do as one pleases. After all, it is a society of people wanting to live a healthy, wealthy and co-operative and peaceful life together.

To take an extreme example, one just can't go and kill someone because they don't like that person, nor drive 100kms ph through the CBD. The issue here with this arrogant, stupid, dumb and probable conspiracy theorist is that he thought that he could do what he liked because he is a non-believer. Stuff the common good! Stuff the public interest! Now look what he has done!! People like him should be named in the public domain.
