A battery with slightly over double the density of top-end NMC batteries is manganese based. CATL's research web page is noting battery cell energy density of 330Wh/kg which in itself is very impressive as most high NMC references are in the 200-300Wh/kg range. The battery pack linked below is at 720Wh/kg. Unfortunately, the article is silent on 3 other key attributes - cost and cycle life and charging speed.
