If management did start a rumour I don't think they would prove it since that would be inside information.
As you suggest its a "rumour" which usually starts from "an insider" or someone who knows "an insider".
When my broker told me that AQC has a possible "prince in shining armour" for $250million+ I am 99% certain its BS. Also the main word here is "possible".
Reason is simple: They have done nothing with the tenements except to pick it up for the minimal expenditure and now expect someone with deep pockets to pay $250million+. This is not a dream but rather a fantasy. Also the market cap is $32 million so who in their right mind is going to pay a 8-10fold increase for control.
They have other assets which are non-core but these are worth nothing to date.
If AQC does raise money and come up with a plan to advance their assets I would be interested since the initial signs are very good. This may take 12 months or more to see value being added however at least the company is doing something solid rather than trash talk.
I am not sure what are the rumours that others have heard of. On my side there is a "possible" deal for $250million+ but I have no idea on the buyer's nationality.
