Your family experiences with severe health problems are very sad........... unfortunately a lot of people have similar experiences. I personaly have had cancer problems but only a few of my extended family have contracted serious cancers.
The matters about the meaning of life etc that you write about are not unusual ,IMO, for someone with your life background. However for peace of mind it is best not to dwell on these matters. Try to carry on doing the things you always did, change very few, and dont overdo trying to be a virtuous person. ...... you already are, so dont sweat about it. Get plenty of exercise. I have an exercise bike and my daily workout involves simple meditation...............I visualise my cancer being defeated as I mouth encouraging words to myself. Nothing religious, I am not religious at all. Miracles do happen though......... not religious ones ........IMO they are the result of perfect planning by dedicated specialists and medical people and a fully aware and trusting patient.
Hope is a great strategy for survival against cancer.
