newieboy - if (and it's a giant IF) newspapers had ever acted as an honest vehicle for the dissemination of information then perhaps they would have more support. Most often the media has been used as an organ of state rather than holding people to account. Their 'independence' if it ever existed, sank in the mire long ago.
