Is a Mazda 2 in the same class/category of vehicle as a Tesla Y? Usually that is measured by parameters such as persons carrying capacity, luggage space, towing capacity.

Here’s the stats on those:
Tesla Y
- passengers = 5
- cargo volume space = 971L without folding rear seats or 2,158L with rear seats folded flat
- towing capacity = 1.6T (it could legally tow the little Mazda 2)

Mazda 2
- passengers = 5 (with backseat passengers well “secured” against each other, just keep the doors locked in case the sideways pressure promotes auto-ejection under pressure!)
- cargo volume space = 225L without folding rear seats or 887L with rear seats folded
- towing capacity = 900kg

Do you think that “engineer” has undertaken a particularly fair (or even relevant) evaluation comparing a Mazda 2 to a Model Y?

On the basis of that evaluation I recon my long departed Grandma’s scooter she used as a child probably had better CO2 emission values than a Mazda 2.
