Charging to “full” is not the paradigm for road trip EV activity. It’s the paradigm for those still living in a world where you fill up fully and drive till empty to fill again - not the case with EV longer distance driving.
Let’s look at it differently, if say a 65kWh battery gives say 400km distance when using between 80->10% charge and then refills at supercharger speeds back to 80% but the public wants greater range … the answer is manufacturers putting in a larger battery and still using only 80->10% “part of the tank” and still recharge happens at supercharger speeds … why do we think just because the battery can fill to 100% it is necessary to do so?
I didn’t say “waiting for an hour is normal” … my car at home might take 5 hours to “recharge” .. but I don’t “wait” for it, I tend to go inside and go on with my life while it does it’s thing. While travelling … I don’t charge to 100% where the last 20% of charging takes about as long as the first 70% of charging…
