for a start the Atto3 is similar in size to a Mazda CX5 or Toyota Cross........and yes you can probably get away with a base version of those cars at ~$40k, but I would argue that an equivalent equipped model of either of those would be closer to ~$45k

So you are comparing an EV plus home charger (1.5k) of ~$52.5k with ICE cars of ~$45k

Forget about the fuel costs, and just try and get a novated least on that $45k car (in fact try the ICE at $40k) and see if you can get away with a 24 month lease for after tax of $800 per month (with a residual payment of 55%).

BTW yes I would be paying more on lease payments on a $51k car as opposed to a $35-40k car without the BEV FBT benefit......but I'm not comparing hypotheticals, I was comparing the cost of replacing my car and it works for me (and I would argue a decent number of other people too)
