    I tend to look at this way,

    Infrastructure for road transport and road rules is already in place for city, urban, regional and 90% of remote locations. Therefore, connecting charging infra to the grid is not a mammoth task, its an easy problem to address, and can be done quickly, inline with demand, as we are not a third world country, in that we have access to electricity just about everywhere.

    EV's are just cars, and the average distance travelled each week for 90% of the population is 220km's, so one decent charge per fortnight would suffice. For those who don't have a driveway/garage would need to top up more regularly, say once per week at the existing charging infra in place. As for planning a long distance road trip, I'd also be pretty comfortable with existing charging infra,
