Currently M3P (lithium manganese phosphate with some iron and aluminium) batteries have a higher power density than LFP batteries but still cost slightly more per kWh and also have a shorter cycle life so there will be a place for them in medium range models. Entry level and those aiming for the best value for money will still be LFP while the long range and performance models will stick with the nickel chemistries. If the lowest sticker price is the most important thing without any consideration of value for money then Sodium Ion (no lithium) fits the bill, so far they are only used inside China.
So far there has been no indications about the volume of lithium in an M3P cell compared with the others but IMO 10% either way will have less impact than the extra sales generated by the increased range of mid range models.
When Solid State Lithium batteries finally arrive (depending on their price) the whole industry will swap to them so all the discussions about variations in battery chemistry will be quickly consigned to history.
IMO CATL should have chosen a different name for their new battery, M3P is the commonly accepted short form of Tesla's Model 3 Performance and I suspect it will cause some confusion among those not very familiar with EVs and batteries.
