USD continues to appreciate, presumably a flight to safety due to the war in Israel. USD now worth AUD 1.59 and Indonesian rupiah 15700, the latter a one-year high and the former roughly equalling the previous high. I imagine events are not going to de-escalate anytime soon, so these trends are likely to persist. In pearl markets, the consensus remains that supply shortages will inevitably continue for some time. So buyers are likely to panic buy in the short term, to accumulate inventory to cover future shortages. Further price increases are expected.
