    Thanks for those links @436hilltop.

Trangression and regression.......easy concept to understand.

Trangression and regression due to isostasy (weight of ice sheets)...... slightly less easy concept, but plausible with evidence existing.

According to the Wikipedia link the first ice age was

"Rocks from the earliest well established ice age, called the Huronian, formed around 2.4 to 2.1 Ga (billion years) ago during the early Proterozoic Eon"

For any theory of mineralisation of the conglomertaes based on the effect of trangressive/regressive isostasy the age of the conglomerates would have to be in the right range for starters. Have they been dated to fit?

Secondly the mechanism for gold emplacement, ie source of gold, and how the trangressive/regressive isostasy caused a gold deposit to form aren't explained, let alone the nuggets.

Do you have an explanation for the gold emplacement mechanism under this scenario and/or the proposed source of gold or why it explains how nuggets can exist in the conglomerate?

So far all I can see it explaining is how the earths crust can be forced below and above sea level by big ice sheets forming and then melting during periods of glaciation. Esh
