Hello SMNers - I apologize if the following is a load of rubbish but.... I have been digging around the net - and believe that the following links may be the final pieces in the jigsaw - It is
THE Airworthiness directive (AD) that has been lodged with the Federal govt for final approval - and comment. It looks like it comes into effect
on the 12th Nov (no friday the 13th for us )
What is significant - is that these are the final steps to the law... and IMHO is the AD where CVM will be used either as pat of the Boeing service manual or as part of AMOC (Alternative means of compliance)
Of course there is no reference to CVM technology - and it may have nothing to do with SMN - but it is now a directive that applies to 495 planes and takes an hour - as part of a service; that's US$42075 per inspection cycle - that is before the need to carry out any repairs - which looks like it takes 86 hours.... (so if CVM is part of the AMOC - or the service manual and can save time in this respect then it is a no brainer....)
I dont know whether the 495 planes include Delta....
The point is this is a directive - and
will be a requirement for all those planes that are serviced under this directive.
I am happy to to be proved wrong - but someone with some more technical nous may say that this is not it...
So if this is the last piece in the jigsaw then -fasten you seat belts and enjoy the lift off

I pulled this post because I thought it may not be connected - and didnt want to appear to be clutching at straws - but something tells me that it is - directly relevant.
What do the techies out there think? (hard to get a handle on the federal process - Boeing and the FAA)
