This verse you mention is in more old scripts than most try and say.
The problem is, most don't understand it and this delusion is due to their error of John 1:1.
............and God was the Word...................................NOT Jesus.
All of John's first 13 verses are in reference to the Almighty God and Father, Yahweh (Mal 3:1).Greek – 1John 5:7-8
7. For three there arewho bearing testimony in the heaven;the Father, theWord, and the Holy Spirit and these three, areone; --> (The Almighty God & Father, singular).
theSpirit, and water, and the bloodalso these three in the one.
There is no Greek words to add, "these three agree in one".
So,......there is zero wrong with this verse (5:7) when you bring the truth into the picture.

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and was not created.
That is like saying, the Gen's creation events were not created.
Eph 3:9 - And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things.
Gen's creation, God had a plan and via his Word/Spirit, he spoke things into being.
Likewise for Jesus......................message to the Angel, Angle to Mary and hey presto = conception.
The first ever literal beginning of Jesus, outside of the mind and plans of God.
