I hear what your saying. And it does happen. Hence markets are not rational - unlike the theory we have been taught.
However, if no company released information you would not have a market. As such releasing the info into the market place allows investors to do their research, obtain knowledge and take advantage of buying opportunities in bear markets. If it is quality info it will flow through to SP eventually as enough investors will digest it and act on it, albeit, some over time and not immediately.
