    I'm no tax expert, but I thought the ruling was simply to determine that there is no capital gains (or loss) payable on acquiring the RLL/ADY shares after the split as would normally be the case upon acquiring any asset. It would be as if you held the new RLL and ADY shares from the time you bouight the original ADY shares.
