Agree with the first part of the post but strongly disagree with the last part. The fact is the economy was tanking and business was suffering. Were it not for the stimulus packages we already would be in the throes of a vicious recession. If things get better as you apparently feel and I am not that confident just yet then Australia is very well placed to recover quickly.
As an aside isnt it good that our Prime Minister seems to attract positive feedback in the USA and elsewhere. It just confirms the high esteem he holds in Australia is well and truly warranted. The only people not happy about this are the languishing Liberal opposition. Hope they smarten up and sort the leadership issue soon.
