I agree with what you are saying. Technology will continue to evolve and improve. The holy grail of batteries is solid state batteries with no electrolytes (it seems).
That is precisely the appeal of NVX that drove the SP up. It has new technology that could make battery production cleaner.
However, one important thing to add to your ideas is speed, or rather lack thereof. Technology advances quickly, but uptake is slow.
The main thing that drives technology uptake is $$$, always $$$. Can we make it for less, can we pay less for it, will it last longer and cost less in post-sale maintenance (warranties, recalls).
One could easily expect the most groundbreaking technology to take up to a decade to become mainstream.
