I commend to all this excellent if emotive takedown of EU President Ursula von der Leyen's speech to the G7 last June and Europe's supine and bureaucratic response to the tangible industrial production threat before it.
Europe struggles to own-source mineral resources - two millennia of intense human activity throughout Europe is difficult to push aside and dig under, let alone the steely resolve of the conservation-minded to veto any disturbance to the earth's crust.
They have instead relied on the chequebook - importing materials and exporting environmental costs.
This weak strategy will not reliably deliver the ingredients European industry needs.
Think again.
