Compared to the actual scale and scope of the universe, of which the writers of our holy books had no apparent idea, they are trivial attempts. A Celestial Monarch, for example, who supposedly created the heavens and the earth, who loves the smell of burnt offering, requires blood sacrifice, orders his Tribe the Israelite's to slaughter other tribes, the Midianites, etc, in no way represents the sheer wonder and marvel of the Universe.
