As for "... nuclear physics and calculus neither of which is that difficult to understand. " that brought a gasp of incredulity to my lips and wish that you had been one of my early maths and physics teachers !!
I have taught the Theory of Evolution to my Grandson when he was around 11 and maths taught to 16 year olds when he was the same age.
Calculus and nuclear physics can be taught successfully to first year university students who gain entry to first year maths and physics courses.
The secret lies in the approach to how the subjects are taught.
I use the same Grandson to help me with TV remotes and mobiles with which I struggle in spite of doing nuclear physics research which involves some pretty advanced maths in my youth.
