Following Tradition, we will look at the key dates. Whilst I can't say these are genuine predictions since PEP-11 has blown through all formal prediction methods, we still have a few dates we can look at for guidance:
1) According to the guidelines for time frames from the "operating protocols for offshore petroleum joint authorities and supporting institutions" by the Department of Industry and Science, (2015), an application should take 8 weeks if it is applying for variation, suspension and extension and it is an exploration permit: -see below.
2) John Barilaro said he would unveil his plans for NSW gas next week. This may involve a PEP-11 announcement as the timing is just right, and John Barilaro has written to Knight16, he allowed us to assume NOPTA would be approved in order to find "suitable gas resource" and to later get "a range of FURTHER approvals".
3) The previous approval for PEP-11 in NOPTA was for 577days, however this was mainly due to interplay with NOPSEMA, and is not a reliable indicator, but we will include it anyway as a possible maximum.
