He's talking about guilt, sin and worthiness of a desirable afterlife experience. That's the same as the Christian sow-reap thing. Or karma, in the eastern religions. Rebirth is more of an eastern thing, but I don't think it's ruled out by the Christianity. It isn't really mentioned in the bible afaik.
