However, suicide rates, especially amongst gay teens is quite high. Obviously there is still not a level of acceptance. I remember a gay and very camp bloke at high school back in the 80!s. For us he was a freak and he had a really tough time at school and the last I heard of him he was on heroin. No doubt school for him was a tough gig, but we didn't appreciate that back then.
As I said, I am not a father so my opinion doesn't hold as much water, but if exposing our kids to the acceptance of gays, especially amongst teens saves a few lives, then I am for it.
Kids don't choose to be gay. And who would???
Perhaps the afl would be better served celebrating " people diversity day" so kids learn to accept others who may be different. It sure would make it easier to explain it to your 6 yo son
