I know these threads love conspiracy theories so how about this one.

It seems the news from one of the J/V, namely WPL, that the second FAN well was a dud, has been conveniently glossed over by those on here and FAR management in particular.
Anyone who read what PC said would have picked that up, apparently not though as it has not been mentioned.
FAR have said it was a success by the way.

Now, to get back to the conspiracy theory.
Why would the J/V want to drill an appraisal at FAN1 when they have no commitment to do so at this time.
A FAN appraisal would cost plenty as its deep, complicated and a flow test would cost plenty even though a tie back would be many years away.
The only member of the J/V it would impact on cost would be FAR IMO.
The last thing FAR would want would be this extra cost IMO with all that's going on.
Here we are though supposedly wanting to appraise early next year.

What if SAMO was inconclusive or (if it gets drilled) comes in below expectations.
Then a FAN appraisal in quick succession.
FAR would then have to raise yet again soonish and depending on SAMO where results could be bad iffy or good where would the SP be.

I am of firm belief FAR are on the nose of everyone in Senegal and an appraisal of FAN would turn the screws tighter and tighter.
    Never underestimate big oil.
