Australia bungled the cancelling of the sub deal. It could have all been done behind closed doors at a diplomatic level as governments normally do. No doubt the French wouldn't have been happy but it could have been kept civil.

Now we just look like a bunch of pricks and the more miserable excuses Morrison makes, the worse it gets.

France isn't sledging Australia. The French PM has talked about his respect for Australians.

It is just the incompetent, bumbling federal government that is continuing to embarrass the country internationally.

The EU and US just put an end to the steel tariffs and agreed to carbon tariffs on Australia on Sunday. Japan is expected to follow.

Morrison and NewsCorp will declare this a victory because we can export to India and Russia. China is out for other reasons.

It is a complete disaster.
