Agree angry, except that all the financing, all the resources in Angola won't mount to a hill of beans, unless the leaders do it right and do the right thing. The lack of transparency may be due to commercial sensibilities in terms of manouvering strategiccally through competition, however, in the end of the day it is about leaders doing it right and doing the right thing at CVI level and Angolan Govt. If not, expeting a return on our investment may be akin to trying propel a freshly laid cow excrement to the top of a large hill through rough terrain, whilst trying to keep our 'nure together.
On another note, we would be naive, dare I say greedy if we expect megaXmega return on our investment without proper financing and/or further share dilutions through extra capital raising and uncaring if we hitch a ride with another company over-zealous on the "maximum return to shareholders" thing at the expense of the Angolan people. In the end of the day, fair is fair, and the Angolan people could benefit greatly if they get a fair deal from CVI and/or others. Depends on the powers behind the throne, who we are really listening to in CVI and the Angolan Govt. If they get it right and do the right thing, all could benefit, depends on who they listen to.
Hard to see what is happening at the moment, kind of believe those that hang in there will see good returns. The Caplin thread was a bit disconcerting, only got some way into it Sat night, to see the thread moderated on Sun. Whatever, if the share placements are going to parties that are not going for short-term greedy gain and the CVI boat and institutional/brokering parties aren't leaky (the movements in the share prices around placements is certainly worrying) and if the Angolans aren't stringing us along. If so then the potential for good is enormous.
An old mate of integity asked me the other day about who I was investing in. Told him CVI. If the whole thing goes belly up due to greedy parties (even my own greed?), it will be a bit embarrasing. Hence, my trust is tested and wonder whether I am on the team of the good guys in the Power of One or on a ship of fools or worse still, part of a greedy, ruthless operation that will shaft shareholders and the Angolan people as well. Time will tell..... time heals wounds and wounds all heals. Come on CVI and Angolan leaders. Do it right and do the right thing.
Got some feedback that the guy questioning Caplin may have been well in question, a bit bitter, had an axe to grind. I had a quick look at the Crooked Knight site ages ago, perhaps my fears, worries were unfounded and should have held on to all my CVI shares.
For personal reasons, family it would be irresponsible to throw my LOT into CVI, I still like the story, the story can have twists in the plot, kind of think/hope that long-term holders will be rewarded, but my patience and trust have been sorely tested.
Funny all the conjecture, hypothesizing, speculating on HC, sometimes people sell for many reasons, concerns about the global situation, better profits elsewhere, better profits for the short-term elsewhere, margin calls close to home, margin calls elsewhere........ blah, blah...... anyway, I still hold many CVI shares, hopefully for the better of me and all concerned.
Funny also, that mistrust in leaders and authorities in Ozzies that (I've heard) goes back to Convict roots, even Eureka Stockade. On the other hand, The East Indian Trading Co. and its arrogant, greedy, types are always a worry. Why do we trust or not trust?
Said to a mate very recently, if Livingstone had more supporters, followers, believers going into the Congo(?) or thereabouts, I think Africa would be a much better place for all. Anyway, all things in their time. Come to think of it, I think MS may have mentioned Livingstone when we had coffee after last year's EGM. Can anyone remember? Then again, people after the EGM (when we were having coffee with MS) looked spellbound with huge $ signs in their eyes. Let's not let greed blind all of our judgements. Surely worse for everyone. Come on the good guys and also come on the bad guys, never too late to start doing it right.
