Byte - I got into ENG in Jan/Feb 06 - I was sure that Aussies would take her up as they have done with all technology - but the lack of interest in the suburbs has made me wonder. Remember the times when the av Jo wanted the best prices for their landlines, mobiles etc and swapped contracts etc etc.for better prices, ISPs too.

Whether the tech has been badly marketed is another question.

Aussies are never resistant to tech change - they take any change with enormous enthusiasm - especially when it is fashionable and IMO, this is where VOIP has fallen down. No sex in VOIP. LOL

Once that happens, we'll all take it up and demand the service and call standards through critical mass - still, very few VOIP providers are making money. I remember comparing all the UK and USA models - pretty much the same.

Something is wrong. Believe me, I am a strong VOIP pusher but there must be something that I am missing.

NB. I have not held ENG for many moons. Got into MNF for a while but they are still battling.
