The so called Club of Rome was inspired by the student uprisings of 1968.

Often regarded as a revolutionary period that had the Ruling classes trembling at the knees.

The Club of Rome wanted to remove modernity from the average Joe blow and certainly from colonials.

Their alarmist's claims were that the sky was falling wrt to raw materials. This meant that the privileged castes may end up with a drop in their living standards which was of course .... not permitted.
To achieve the goals of the club of Rome then we would have to have military takeovers that enforced the massive drops in living standards. Thereby the rich and privileged would be able to maintain their luxuries.

The finite nature of the world's resources is obvious.

The so called club was not advocating on behalf of the average punter.

A British newspaper at the time had a headline of "Enough is enough" in an attempt to rally support against continual strikes and disruptions.
