gungho......there are actually 3 gap zones in the MS mine according to what NG told me 12 months ago.
1. the 1st gap zone is in the upper level of the mine.
that would include some of the known high grade reefs from surface to level 5 - 6 i.e. AAA reef, burns reef etc..
2. then the 2nd Gap zone sits between levels 7 - 15.
it is highly mineralised i.e. maxwells, sydney & stones reefs, the newly discovered reefs above maxwells that are being drilled now, tills, whitelaws & kenny reefs, plus unnamed reefs etc. etc.
3. the 3rd gap zone is below level 21 - 22 (down to level 32 & still open at depth).
4. plus the known width of the dyke is still expanding, with high grade gold at the contact with the surrounding sedimentary rock. p.s. from memory something like 10% of all historic gold produced actually came from the surrounding sedimentary rock.
5. so the question could be why did the old timers leave so much high grade gold intact on every level in the mine? from surface down to level 32 >.
maybe to do with gold only being $35 an ounce & WMC discovering nickel in w.a., whereupon they took all their geo team etc. to the new riches out west.
