    Gungho, this was best explained by Peterh in a post many months ago. He described the ore body as like a swaying belly dancer. GMA drilled straight down and missed the gap zone initially.
    By the time they closed the mine they knew gold was in the gap zone but never got the chance to mine it.

    I hope this laymans explanation helps.
