The Geat Vaccination Failure

Hi All, first of all I would like to wish all a Merry Xmas and seasons greetings.
My disclaimer is that I’m fully vaccinated and am pro vaccination but I would like to make the following points.
1. The vaccinations were meant to reduce the likelihood of catching Covid and therefore reduce transmission - Abject failure
2. The vaccines were meant to reduce the severity of the symptoms of Covid and therefore reduce hospitalization and death - satisfactory pass.
Considering point 1. Above I welcome other opinions and discussion (especially considering the worlds current numbers).
