G'Day,
The difference being, I bring up valid points, some of which the Inter demands and these you would need to address, overcome, to support what you see in the Bible, otherwise yours fails Big time imo.
Example 1:2 = the first word can Only be "This" and NOT "He" as in a person, the "this" is a logos/plan and part of that is shown to have been expressed by 1:3 and that was not by Jesus.
But in keeping what I think is yours and my understanding, we won't his and fit at each other lol, and have to agree to disagree.
-------------
The following maybe of possible interest in regards to the prologue of John, based on a reasonable number of Bibles, many years ago, of which I noticed rcman just happened to post some, some time back, of which I was already aware of.
Over the years, I have pretty much tossed and turned this prologue upside down, looked at it from numerous directions, and the same result keeps on appearing.
But first up, I'll try and explain some of my thoughts, which will go towards supporting these interpretations or at least explain why these Bibles were interpreted as such.
A Key theme from the OT is the God and Father trying to make himself known and His word accepted and followed.
A key mission of Jesus you could say was to show us the Father and Jesus in John 14:10 shows us, that by hearing the Fathers words form him, is deemed as seeing (perceiving - Inter) the Father, hence Jesus became the express image of him Heb 1:3 KJV.
He repeatedly, over and over tells us, he is speaking the Father words and tells us what they represent -> spirit and life, words of eternal life. (John 6:63, 68)
1 John 1:1,2 tells us that this word of life was with the Father (not Jesus) and in at least one verse elsewhere, the writer says they were preaching "the word of life".
"With the Father = John 1:1, 2 and 1:4.
1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1:1 In the beginning was the Word = The Word in the opener is the Key subject (no "the" as this doesn't belong and neither is it Gens beginning).
1:1..........and God (Father) was the Word.
So from 1:1 we can establish that the Word and God are one in the same, it is in reference to him and his inner logos/plans and while in you, it is you = and God was the Word.
The Word and God can in fact be referred to as "it" = either word or God = same thing, the stage has been set.
1:3 - All things were made through him (it), and without him (it) nothing was made that was made. (Gens account, Psa 33:6,9)
4. In him (it) life was and that life was the light (word) of men. (light again = word of God Psa 119:105).
5. And the light (word) shines in the darkness (unbelievers), and the darkness (unbelievers) did not comprehend it.
6. There was a man sent from God, whose namewasJohn.
7. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light (word), that all through him (it) might believe.
8. He was not the Light (the word), buthe came to testify about the Light. (the word).
(Mal 3:1 - Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me (Father): and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to the temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith Yehowah of hosts."
9. That was the true Light (word) which gives light (words) to every man coming into the world.
(Including Adam - and God is light, Father of and his word is light - 1 John 1:5, James 1:17, Psa 119:105).
10. He (it) was in the world, and the world was made through him (it), and the world knew him (it) not.
14 And the Word man became and dwelt in us and we beheld the glory of him (it) glory as only begotten by the side of the Father, full of grace and truth.
(Became on the scene and dwelt)
By the side of the Father, glory here being word -> John 17:8 - For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have receivedthem, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.
17:22 - And the glory (word) which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: (one in word = Unity).
Truth - 17:17 - Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
"Forth from" = out of the mouth of God -> From God to the Angel to Mary and sent into the world after his Baptism John 17:18 ex.
