Death is intimately connected to sin.
According to Isaiah 59, sin separates us from God, and God being spirit, concludes for us that sin is of the spirit.
Death and sin are related to our spirit, not our body.
This connection will allow you see. You may choose not to see, just as the Jews chose not to see the true Messiah.
