The mention of Germany's lignite consumption in a recent post prompted me to do a little research on Germany.
For a country that is held up as the shining example of what an economy can achieve with renewable energy like wind power, it's interesting to read about the huge lignite consumption. Even now, there are many new lignite mines and power stations planned.
The story is dated 2014, but extremely relevant, and worth a read.
