GC property may receive a short-term boost in market confidence but news does not affect the underlying trend. I expect a few more years of price declines, both nationally and on the GC, before finally bottoming around 2015 then a slow recovery over the following 5 years.

The GC will receive an employment and investment boost from 2016 and many will believe that the recovery in house prices is due to the Comm Games. Although it may be a contributing factor, the recovery will be largely due to the cyclical trend in house prices (as it was in Sydney after the 2000 Olympics).
