Consider that there are now over 2 million homes in Australia with roof solar feeding power into the grids. That is clean power that can be used to charge clean EV's.
Tesla nearly 80 years ago was developing wireless electrical energy and he actually drove an electric car around with an aerial and the battery was charged by wireless energy from a transmission tower. This may have the potential if someone is willing to invest in further development. Imagine having wireless transmission poles along major roads where an electric car could be charged as it was being driven.
This has been already been developed in a small way for smart phones and other home devices.
