It's not what i'm in favour of it's what is likely to happen and it's also got nothing to do with your need to label others as right or left whatever that means?
The government will simply switch the revenue raising to another source that's convenient and if it wants to encourage EV's and discourage ICE's then it could simply adjust the registration fee structure.
