High data rates = wide bandwidths, the 2 are mathermatically related, the higher in frequency that you go and that is to retain bandwidth that is symetrical causes all kinds of problems.
The higher the frequency the higher the losses via "skin effect" as the AC/Modulated waveform travels in the outer microns of the conductor.
To get high bandwidth the cable companies employ "coaxial cable" this has an outer sheild that stops the signal from radiating into the surroundings.
A pair of copper wires, that are bundled with other wires, up to 40 pair are not sheilded and if pumped with high frequency signals will cross couple into the other wires (not good)
The reason that telephone audio sounds so compessed is that you cant get the range of voice frequencies over the pair of wires, thats why it sounds so tinny.
The longer the run of copper wires the larger the distributed capacitance between the wires, now digital signals are square waves as such have very steep rise and fall times, cable capacitance stuffs this up by trying to slow down the rise and fall times.
If what has been reported is true of Adams Platform then excuse the french it will be a fucking goldmine, but it does fly in the face of physics as to what we are aware of.
